Knocked Out Hummingbird Flies Again

Hummingbird recovering after being knocked out. Well today marks another milestone in the life and times of an armchair wildlife conservationist and surfer living in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. In fact, with the way things are going lately I may slowly be evolving into a "birder" of all things. Why? This morning while sipping my coffee I watched a Hummingbird fly full speed into one of the large windows that surrounds my kitchen. The poor thing hit so hard that it knocked itself out and made me spill my java. A rescue quickly followed, and much to my surprise this would be my second Hummingbird rescue in as many months. I ran outside and found the little creature laying flat on the ground with its wings spread and slowly fluttering. It reminded me of seeing a boxer trying to get up off of the mat having just been punched out by Mike Tyson. Huge Red Snapper Caught in Marbella, Costa Rica

Red Snapper "Pargo" caught in Marbella 2013 Talk about a really great day of fishing for some of the locals in Marbella! Check out this huge Red Snapper or "Pargo" as referred to in Costa Rica. This species of fish loves to hunt around rocky reefs along the coast and the locals know how to catch them with hand lines. This is one of the best tasting fish pan fried or grilled. Marbella Surf Inn Featured on Costa Rica TV

The Marbella Surf Inn is a one of a kind hotel in Costa Rica. Why? Because it's the only full service hotel in the quaint beach community of Marbella, Guanacaste. Baby Howler Monkeys in Costa Rica

Check out these baby Howler monkeys. There are four species of monkeys in Costa Rica - Mantled Howler, Spider Monkey, Capuchin and the Squirrel Monkey. Guess which one is the loudest "howler" out of the four? If you are in Marbella you will hear and see the Howler species on the road to the beach and around the town. Take it easy around them and respect their space...they travel in families!
